H&M - Try On

I was just browsing the H&M site tonight and underneath one of the shirts there was a link that said try on. I was quickly interested, so i clicked it and it brought me to a part of the site that reminded me of those childhood games i used to play where i would pick a model and pick clothes to put on the model and make an outfit... but this was better. The clothes you could choose to make an outfit of on the model were actual H&M clothes, that had the prices and after you made the outfits, you could buy the clothes. I fell in love and created like 10 outfits! haha. I'd say that is pretty good marketing.. made me want to buy a few peices i wouldn't think about buying but after seeing what it looked like on the model it made me very interested... Anyways i just thought i would share, and incase anyone is interested here's the link for the website! Oh and the outfit above was created by me :)

Honor Spring 2012: Review!

Yesterday I sat in my room on youtube looking back at all the runway shows I missed during fashion week. Highly disappointed by the Betsey Johnson collection I continued to click onto the next video; the Honor Spring 2012 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and was instantly enamored. As soon as Giovanna Randall’s first design walked out I was in love.  The retro music began to play, and an intentional Marilyn Monroe moment with the first look transpired. The model donned a paisley silk cupcake dress, which was similar to Marilyns but without the coyness. The model stood at the top of the runway for just a second, letting the dress fly up. It took my breath away and set the tone for the rest of the show: pure gorgeousness via sweet ‘60s glamour. This collection heavily consisted of gorgeous pastels and flowy silhouettes, with a few structured looks here and there, as well as a ton of intricate lace peices, silk organza and sheer cutouts. I also loved the gold collars on the models. It was an interesting touch to such a “light” collection and was almost my favorite part, but the reverse sweetheart necks on some of the garments stole the show. They were my favorite detail and added a wow affect that no other show did for me. All in all the clothes were so precious, delicate and beautiful, it was hard to believe they were real! So.. who wants to buy me something?

Been gone forever!

haven't posted in months! been so busy but i definitely missed it :)
here it comes... favorites from s/s 1021!!

Billboard Music Awards 2011: Best Dressed

After a four-year hiatus, the Billboard Music Awards returned last night with a star studded red carpet fashion bang.  Our favorite divas made their dazzling debut on the white carpet to enter the competition for best dressed.
Taylor Swift gets my vote for 3rd place. Not that it’s a surprise to anyone anymore, but Taylor Swift hit the red carpet, in an uber embellished light colored floor grazing gown from the Elie Saab Spring-Summer 2011 collection. She added red lips to her blush-toned, beaded strapless gown and donned elegant wavy hair. Though it’s a habitual look of hers, she still looked absolutely beautiful.
Selena Gomez may still be signed with Disney but she walked onto the white carpet looking sexier than she ever has in a black Dolce & Gabanna floor length dress. She boasted a low cut top, a thigh-high slit, and side cut-outs which exposed her hips. Adding to the sultriness of the look,  Selena wore her hair long and  straight and paired her outfit with Neil Lane jewelry, red Giuseppe Zanotti heels and a Judith Leiber clutch.

At the top of my best dressed list is Rihanna, who usually dresses provocatively for awards shows. However she toned it down last night by opting for an elegantly tailored and sophisticated white Max Azria suit and nude Christian Louboutin pumps. Her white, button less silk blouse was open down to her navel where she showcased a gold fringe Solange Azagury-Partridge tassel necklace. Her red hair really popped against the white suit and it completed the whole look.

Royal Wedding Recap

When Catherine Middleton stepped out of the vintage Rolls Royce Phantom, she stepped straight onto the pages of fashion history, revealing for the first time her wedding dress to a world audience, estimated at around two billion people. She carried a small bouquet of flowers which bore a secret love message to her future husband.
The wedding dress was a model of luxurious simplicity, perfectly suitable to the sweet and serene style of the woman who is now the Duchess of Cambridge and is destined to be the future Queen of England.
The dress was designed by Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen. It was made of ivory and white satin gazar. It features English lace and French Chantilly lace throughout the bodice and skirt. Kate also wore a veil of ivory silk tulle held in place by a Cartier “halo” tiara borrowed from the Queen.
Kate walked up the aisle and every eye was on her. “You look beautiful”, Prince William whispered as his bride reached his side and the two billion royal wedding watchers around the world including me would definitely agree. Kate was a vision of true beauty and the gown wasn’t one of a woman aspiring to be a fashion icon, but rather one who was supremely secure in her sense of self.

Wrist Art

Remember that old charm bracelet you got in 7th grade? And those piles of bangles you’d stack up on your wrists? What about that old scarf you  never seem to wear? Well combine them all, and you have an armful of glamour waiting to happen!
Once upon a time, the trend was to wear one simple tennis bracelet, or a large cocktail ring. Well that was before, and now the look du jour is wearing all your finest arm candy at once. Charm bracelets, cuffs, wrap bracelets, stacked bangles, and watches worn together; the more colorful and diverse the texture and material of your arm-wear, the better you will look. The trend is a collage of multiple bracelets and watches on one arm consisting of different metals, textures and shapes. Think of it this way- its art for your wrists.
Don’t be afraid to mix large items with smaller pieces! Just make sure they don’t pile up on each other so you can’t tell them apart. So push your sleeves up, throw on everything you have, and hit the streets in one of the hottest trends of the spring!

Tye Dye To Die For.

The new Brooklyn-based brand Upstate makes one-of-a-kind dyed scarves, handkerchiefs, and vests. But don’t assume this is your typical DIY project. Instead, designers Kalen and Astrid use the Japanese technique of shibori, which binds, folds, and compresses the fabric into a million different intricate patterns. The result? These wear-everywhere pieces are high fashions take on the summer camp classic that we’d actually want to wear.

2011 Vanity Fair Oscars Party : Best Dressed

The 2011 Oscars red carpet was just the beginning. Nominees plus dozens of other young celebs slipped into their cutest cocktail dresses for the Vanity Fair Oscars Party later that night. For those not invited to the main ceremony, this was their opportunity to shine, and there were some definite hits last night. Much like the Academy Awards, reds and nudes stole the show.
Despite that fact that it feels like DĂ©jĂ  vu every time Taylor Swift hits the red carpet, she did look good at the 2011 Vantiy Fair Oscars Party. She was glowing wearing a Zuhair Murad Spring 2011 dress. Her gold and silver beaded strapless dress with corset back is nothing I haven’t seen from her before though. In fact I feel like I’ve seen this exact head-to-toe look at least twice. But, I guess her motto is, “if it aint broke, don’t fix it." It's not like, this look isn’t appealing, it's just time for her to change up her style a little bit. A wavy updo, red lips, Jimmy Choo platform sandals and a Jimmy Choo clutch completed her look.
I feel kind of bad saying this, but i had absolutely no idea who Mia Wasikowska was. All I knew is that she looked absolutely fabulous on that red carpet. I then looked her up and realized she was Alice, from Alice in Wonderland.  Anyways, Mia dazzled, wearing a Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2011 dress. The black guipure lace cap sleeve dress was ravishing and complimented her skin tone great! The detailing on it was exquisite and I loved the full-skirted silhouette. She paired the dress with black Brian Atwood peep toes. Can't say I like the shoes, I think a nude heel would have looked better, but I’ll let it slide.
It seems like Jessica Beil has been MIA for a couple months, but Sunday night she re appeared and she looked outstanding – the best I could remember she ever looked! Her Atelier Versace Spring 2011 gown is singing sweet music to me. The gold and silver fully beaded gown with thin straps and draping on the sides shows off her gorgeous body. I don’t think she could’ve picked a better dress for the occasion! Her make-up, her hair, everything is just flawless. She put many at the actual Academy Awards to shame.
Since landing her role in ‘Spiderman’ Emma Stone has become quite the fashionista, and I’m not just saying that because I absolutely adore her! She’s gotten an A+ all award season and she definitely deserved it. Of course it had to be hard to top her Golden Globes Calvin Klein gown, but Emma totally rocked in this colorful Chanel Fall 2009 Couture dress. She added complementary purple satin Salvatore Ferragamo pumps and a Van Cleef & Arpels cocktail ring. They both completed her edgy red carpet look. It’s was a risk, which totally paid off. It’s a shame I can’t say the same about her hair style though.
Madonna and her daughter Lourdes both walked the red carpet that night. I think it's obvious that I favored Lourdes' dress over Madonna’s though. I know Madonna has got a great body for her age, but I don't think anyone- at any age should wear what she did. Lourdes on the other hand looked adorable and age appropriate in her AllSaints Aztec mini-dress.

The 2011 Academy Awards: Best Dressed

Award shows are all about the 3 G’s and no, I’m not talking about technology. I’m talking about the glitz, the glamour, and the gowns! Sure, the Oscars are technically about giving out awards, but I think I may enjoy the red carpet better than watching the actual show! The last couple of months have had no shortage of awards shows, but they were all a lead-up to the biggest night of them all: the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. I had been looking forward to the Oscars for awhile now, not only because I wanted to find out which films would win, but because it's the night celebs show off their very best on the red carpet. That means the gowns are more dramatic, the jewelry is more expensive and the hairstyles are even more sky-high then ever (aka, Reese's ponytail!).
Luckily, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Plus, I think anything would be a step up from the 2011 Grammy red carpet. Rodarte, Marchesa and Chanel were all in attendance and they all looked phenomenal (and so did the actresses wearing them!) While the designers varied, the trends were pretty noticeable. The carpet was flooded with sequins that left us dazzled, lace that showed just the right amount of skin and lots of nude and bright red dresses!  Last night’s Oscars marked the end of the award season, but before they roll up the red carpet, I need to crown the best-dressed ladies of the night!
Michelle Williams looked simply angelic in this form flattering, white beaded, short sleeved Chanel Haute Couture dress. She remains true to her vintage style in this gown which she pairs with Harry Winston diamond earrings and ring and Jimmy Choo pumps. Lovely is probably the best way I can describe her because when it comes to understated elegance, no one does it like Michelle Williams.
Amy Adams is not usually known for being on the best dressed list, but she definitely deserves it this time! Amy wears double the sparkles in a glittering purple L'Wren Scott cap-sleeved gown, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and $1,350,000 of Cartier diamond jewelry, including a bracelet and necklace, each containing more than 30 carats of emeralds (WOW!). Amy showed off every inch of her desirable frame, while its high neckline, and her elegant 1940s coiffure, kept the look on the sophisticated side of sexy.
Cate Blanchett is always a fashion plate. While there is a lot of dispute over her dress, I think it was absolutely stunning! The actress walked the carpet in an elaborately beaded and pleated lilac Givenchy Haute Couture gown with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. This structured lilac Givenchy gown was a work of art. It was very detailed and highlighted two splashes of bright yellow on the collar. Her simple, sleek 'do is the perfect complement.
Mila Kunis didn't end up taking home the best supporting actress award, but it's ok, because she looked flawless in this gorgeous, flowing chiffon and lavender lace tiered Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. With a grosgrain ribbon waist and peekaboo detailing, which she pairs with Neil Lane diamonds and a pink clutch, Mila definitely tops this best dressed list, no if's and's or butt's about it!

Best Dressed: Grammy's 2011

As i watched The Grammy Awards Red Carpet, all i saw was disaster after disaster in terms of fashion. Apparently there was a competition over who could wear the most heinous dress. There were a few exceptions to the general heinous fashion choices though, most notably Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and Leah Michelle.  But other then that select few, its was pitiful. Lets start off with my absolute fav of the night, Selena Gomez. Selena never really seems to disappoint does she? She is always on my best dressed list! Well anyways, Selena worked the trend of the night; metallic gold, wearing a J. Mendel Spring 2011 gown. She added a Judith Leiber embellished clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Selena looks age appropriate and fabulous! J-Lo is 41 years old, but damn, she still looks fierce as ever! Jennifer wore a long-sleeved Emilio Pucci mini with matching Christian Louboutins! Someone just tell me how many mirrors had to die to make this outfit? LOL, i still loved it though! Lea Michele once again proved she’s a pro when it comes to picking the right dress for red carpet events. This ruffled Emilio Pucci dress is sexy, demure and modern. Combining black lace with a thigh-high split, Christian Louboutin patent pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Lea looks amazing! Thats my wrap up for the night, are there any other favorites of your’s that i am missing?

A few others i liked were:
Keri Hilson
Kathy Griffin
Jennifer Hudson
Nicole Kidman

Marc by Marc Jacobs Jelly Bracelets

Shut the front door. I hate that I don't hate these. Marc Jacobs created a set of five jelly bracelets, aka. Silly Bandz, and I want them. I want them right now. It's $15 for a set of 5. I mean, come on. That is perfect. I seriously hate Silly Bandz but Marc Jacobs' jelly bracelets have my heart. How he manages to make cheap look chic, I will never know.
A great pair of lace-up boots or booties can really add some edge to the most lady-like of outfits. Unlike sexy stilettos, boots have the ability to make any girl look like a bad ass with the masculinity of the leather and the lace-up structure of this style.  They are a great alternative to your regular heels and work for a brunch date or a day window shopping with your girl friends. (Not to mention boots are generally more comfortable for long-term wear compared to heels too!)
I like to wear my boots two different ways:  either with a sexy dress or skirt (like Taylor Momsen did here) or with rolled up boyfriend jeans or super skinny jeans (as seen here and here). If you’re feeling extra daring, try pairing fun little ankle socks with these boots too to add a bit of extra flair to your outfit.
Do you love leather lace-up boots?  Tell me your favorite styles and how you rock them today

Lets get nude!

Hey! Get your mind outta the gutter! This is no nudist blog, this is a fashion blog so clothing is obviously important! Although fashion’s purpose is usually to cover up, this trend is all about blending into your skin tone. If you don’t have a pair of nude heels i highly suggest you go invest in a pair right this second! Something that I adore about the nude shoe is that it can flatter your body in any outfit. Nude shoes elongate your legs, giving the illusion of not only more height, but skinnier legs if you have a heel on too! What nude shoes do, that any other color like black, red or blue don't do, is eliminate the line that breaks your foot from your leg. This creates one long line as opposed to 2 shorter lines. Get it? Best of all, the color goes with basically any outfit because it matches your skin!  Make sure when you are shopping for a nude shoe, you find one that blends best with your legs – its like foundation for your feet! If something doesn’t match perfectly, go lighter or darker! My favorite fashionista Blake Lively rocks the nude heel perfectly on the red carpet all the time! Your turn!

Must Have!

I have a new obsession with skinny cargo pants. They are just so chic and add a tougher edge to outfits than jeans. They absolutely go with everything and literally everyone has been wearing them. Any color is great really; army green, blue, or gray. As long as they look a little scuffed, you’ve got the style down. Is this love? Yes…yes I think so! I’ve tried them on many times but unfortunately, they don’t look good on me! Its pretty upsetting. What brands are your favorite though? Do tell!

Turbans!

Accessories, accessories, accessories!! I cannot say it enough!  Since it is still quite cold outside and (days like these you wear a thick coat) some days the only thing people might see is your face and not your outfit.  So, you have to accessorize and one of the biggest ways you can do that is to wear a hair accessory!  Whether it is a headband or scarf, be creative and spruce up that drab winter day’s outfit.  Personally, I am a huge fan of turbans!  Jason Wu styled his spring collection with black or cobalt turbans, and many celebs have been spotted rocking them such as Mary-Kate Olsen, Kate Moss and Kourtney Karsdashian! Hop in on the craze, with any print or pattern! They are pretty inexpensive if you can find them at the right place, plus they add attitude and spunk to any outfit!

Who cares if you only wear ‘em a few times? At $25.80 these platform Floral Mary Janes can turn any outfit from run-of-the-mill to fashion forward with a simple print.
Dolce & Gabanna: Milan’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
Spring is near and Dolce & Gabanna’s  sheer lace Spring/Summer 2011 Collection is what’s “in”! Along with the floral fashion trend, leopard print, and romantic lace. Lace is sexy and feminine and can be worn to your advantage. Try to find your style due to the large variety of different patterns of lace and sizes.  You can wear lace without revealing so much skin to keep your modest by just adding something as simple as a tank top underneath, or be bold and go bare by wearing lingerie for a “sexy” look. Try not to abrade to many patterns of lace all at once because its unflattering! Play around with colors to suite yourself. Remember that lace doesn’t only have to be worn after 5 (Evening apparel).

I had a crazy day today, but of course I couldn’t keep myself from making more outfits!  I recently went shopping and bought a denim button up and was wondering what exactly I could wear it with and now that I started doing this again, I came up with a bunch of solutions! So, you know those days when you don’t feel like getting all dressed up nice and being casual, but don’t want to look like too much of a bum? Well that’s totally outfit number 1. The black jeans, white tank top, and converse totally go great with the denim shirt and are a little bit cuter than the oversized sweatshirt for lazy days. I  don’t exactly know what my inspiration was for the second outfit, but I think it’s cute. Tuck the shirt into the skirt, and throw the jacket over it, slip on some brown heeled boots and you have yourself one girly, grungy outfit. Lastly my obsession with blazers continues. The blazer is worn over the denim shirt, paired with tan trousers that you can either tuck in, or wear over and then I toped it off with tan lace up heels. I hope you guys liked my suggestions. Write in my ask and tell me what to make outfits with for tomorrow! :) The shirt is available at JCrew and you can get it here.

One Garment, Endless Outfits

Hey guys! As the week continues my outfits are getting better and better… at least I think so. Anyways polyvore has become an obsession again (yikes). I spent like 3 hours last night making outfits and looking at all the clothes. How great would it be if polyvore was linked to my closet?  Like if I saved something to my items, it would show up on a hanger tomorrow. Well, since that’s not possible I guess I will have to settle for just pretending.  When I was making the first outfit, I hadn’t planned on using the blue blazer as the main garment. I was originally going to base every outfit on the light gray shirt. But as I was making the first outfit I realized that the blue blazer was really nice and a common thing in peoples closet, so why not show them outfits with clothes they might already have? So I went with that lead and ended up making 3 amazing outfits with the blazer. For the first one, I paired this light gray top with a striped skirt. The shirt is not meant to be tucked into the skirt, it’s meant to be worn over it. Then added the gorgeous blue blazer and topped the outfit off with these sheer net booties that I adore!  Second, I instantly fell in love with that pink lace trim top. I added the sand colored shorts, with a navy Moschino belt and nude heels.  Even though none of the garments directly match each other, they all flow nicely. And last, but certainly not least I made a really casual look that you can wear to school. White jeans, a black silky tank and a repetto shoe, similar to oxfords.  Which outfit is your favorite? The navy blazer can be purchased here.

One Garment, Endless Outfits

So I had a lot of fun yesterday creating those outfits so I think i'm going to make it a regular thing and try to do it everyday. Today i chose this silk polka dot button down collared blouse. Though i've never touched it in person i can tell that the fabric is luxurious and it drew me to it. For the first outfit i got together i took the shirt, and added high wasted black denim shorts, tights, black lace up booties and a cross necklace. The second outfit is a bit more basic. I paired the blouse with emerald pants, threw a chestnut belt on it and paired it with tall chestnut leather boots. That outfit was my favorite, even though it was very simple. Lastly i combined the blouse with a black scarf, heels and basic dark wash jeans. Casual and sexy! This shirt is sold out but here is where you can find it. Hope you guys like my ideas! Should i continue to do these? Let me know what you think! Xoxo.

1 Garment, Endless Outfits

So, I had a half day today and since i didn't go out and do anything i got bored really quickly. Tumblr wasnt entertaining me for once, and neither was facebook. So i headed over to polyvore, a site that i have not visited in almost a year due to the fact i was protesting because my account got suspended when i had almost 400 contacts. Anyways, i was browsing and i found this gorgeous knit cropped sweater. I fell in love instantly. So i saved the sweater to my items and continued browsing. I continuted to save a couple more things and then created. I put together 3 different outfits using the same knit sweater in each.  The first a more grungy look with the leather jacket and combat boots paired with the sweater. The second look was country inspired, featuring olive green harem pants, a nuetral tank and chestnut boots. The last outfit is my favorite simply because i mixed patterns. I added a blazer, a blue floral skirt and striped sandals.  If you love the sweater, just like i did, you can purchase it here from Topshop!

Back To The 80's!

It’s almost time to think about updating your Spring wardrobe, and whats even more important is making sure you're rocking the newest trend! Exposed midriffs made a surprising appearance on several spring runways in day, evening and beachwear attire. A sleek cutoff or a shortened blouse that hits just above the belly button offers an edgy, casual or dressy look depending on what you pair it with. Flashing some skin is no longer a faux pas as the fabulous Spring/Summer 2011 Cropped Top Style Trend prove! So hit the gym ladies and bare that midriff!

Paris Fashion Week: Backless Glamour

Spotted: Models backstage at the Alexandre Vauthier show in Paris, demonstrating that in spring 2011, forward thinking fashionistas will be baring it all from behind. Ooh la la! Are shoulder blades the new cleavage? Or does the bare and backless look leave you cold?

Forget gold and silver—copper is the new metallic lighting up runways at Paris Fashion Week. Behold the rich, silky drape of this Stephane Rolland gown and let this look inspire your little fashionista heart. Penny for your thoughts?

Anna Wintour - Twilight Fan?

You know what i love most about having my license? No, it’s not getting the freedom to go out and do whatever you want. And no, it’s not so i can  go get starbucks whenever i want (i still love that though). But it’s when my mom sends me to the food store to pick up milk and things like that. No, i’m not obsessed with milk. It’s just that when i go to the store, she will give me her credit card. And with that powerful credit card i have the freedom to purchase whatever i want. And with that freedom, i purchase magazines. Yes, i could be purchasing chanel bags and she’d never know, but no, i’m taking it a step down and getting some fashion magazines. Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire (which happens to be my new fav), Teen Vogue, InStyle, Elle, and more. Anyways i picked up the February Issue of Vogue today and i’m going to just throw it out there and say that Kristen Stewart looks absolutely FAB! She’s dressed in a Proenza Schouler white blouse on the cover and has blonde highlights in her hair. She looks older and more sophisticated. I’m loving the new look K-Stew!

Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2011

Happy awards season! It's the time of year where ceremonies are never ending and dresses are talked about for at least three days. This year the red carpet came alive with color. Emerald green (my favorite of the evening), feminine pinks, festive metallics and sultry reds. Red-carpet veterans, Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein and Lanvin, delivered gorgeous gowns for all the deserving ladies. Though many graced the red carpet in stunning gowns, i picked my 3 favorites for the night.
Anne Hathaway jumps on the backless bandwagon to make my best dressed list. This stunning copper-meets-blush, sequin-studded Armani PrivĂ© gown is modern and demure with long sleeves and a high neck. It's when she turns around that you get that movie star moment. What seemed dated from the front now looks fresh and modern. Soft makeup, flattering chestnut waves, complementary peep-toe Brian Atwood platforms finish off her crystallized sheath along with Van Cleef & Arpels vintage jewels, and Roger Vivier clutch.
Newly blonde Emma Stone plays up her lighter locks and worked the heck out of this peachy minimalist dress from the Calvin Klein Collection. The short sleeves and high neckline are perfect on her. Who needs an overload of accessories and embellishment when you've got this kind of natural glow? She paired the dress with a sleek clutch, Van Cleef & Arpels jewels as well as Anne and Ferragamo peep-toes.
We get it, Angelina Jolie -- you have it all. She's beautiful, talented and fashionable! Angelina looks right at home in a glam sparkly Atelier Versace gown. It was an unusual move for Angelina, who tends to play it safe in neutral shades but the choice certainly paid off. The floor-length, long-sleeved number gets some added wow with draped backless detail. And Brad Pitt doesn't hurt the look either. Nice job ladies, 10/10!
