1 Garment, Endless Outfits

So, I had a half day today and since i didn't go out and do anything i got bored really quickly. Tumblr wasnt entertaining me for once, and neither was facebook. So i headed over to polyvore, a site that i have not visited in almost a year due to the fact i was protesting because my account got suspended when i had almost 400 contacts. Anyways, i was browsing and i found this gorgeous knit cropped sweater. I fell in love instantly. So i saved the sweater to my items and continued browsing. I continuted to save a couple more things and then created. I put together 3 different outfits using the same knit sweater in each.  The first a more grungy look with the leather jacket and combat boots paired with the sweater. The second look was country inspired, featuring olive green harem pants, a nuetral tank and chestnut boots. The last outfit is my favorite simply because i mixed patterns. I added a blazer, a blue floral skirt and striped sandals.  If you love the sweater, just like i did, you can purchase it here from Topshop!

Back To The 80's!

It’s almost time to think about updating your Spring wardrobe, and whats even more important is making sure you're rocking the newest trend! Exposed midriffs made a surprising appearance on several spring runways in day, evening and beachwear attire. A sleek cutoff or a shortened blouse that hits just above the belly button offers an edgy, casual or dressy look depending on what you pair it with. Flashing some skin is no longer a faux pas as the fabulous Spring/Summer 2011 Cropped Top Style Trend prove! So hit the gym ladies and bare that midriff!

Paris Fashion Week: Backless Glamour

Spotted: Models backstage at the Alexandre Vauthier show in Paris, demonstrating that in spring 2011, forward thinking fashionistas will be baring it all from behind. Ooh la la! Are shoulder blades the new cleavage? Or does the bare and backless look leave you cold?

Paris Fashion Week: Metal Mania!

Forget gold and silver—copper is the new metallic lighting up runways at Paris Fashion Week. Behold the rich, silky drape of this Stephane Rolland gown and let this look inspire your little fashionista heart. Penny for your thoughts?

Anna Wintour - Twilight Fan?

You know what i love most about having my license? No, it’s not getting the freedom to go out and do whatever you want. And no, it’s not so i can  go get starbucks whenever i want (i still love that though). But it’s when my mom sends me to the food store to pick up milk and things like that. No, i’m not obsessed with milk. It’s just that when i go to the store, she will give me her credit card. And with that powerful credit card i have the freedom to purchase whatever i want. And with that freedom, i purchase magazines. Yes, i could be purchasing chanel bags and she’d never know, but no, i’m taking it a step down and getting some fashion magazines. Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire (which happens to be my new fav), Teen Vogue, InStyle, Elle, and more. Anyways i picked up the February Issue of Vogue today and i’m going to just throw it out there and say that Kristen Stewart looks absolutely FAB! She’s dressed in a Proenza Schouler white blouse on the cover and has blonde highlights in her hair. She looks older and more sophisticated. I’m loving the new look K-Stew!

Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2011

Happy awards season! It's the time of year where ceremonies are never ending and dresses are talked about for at least three days. This year the red carpet came alive with color. Emerald green (my favorite of the evening), feminine pinks, festive metallics and sultry reds. Red-carpet veterans, Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein and Lanvin, delivered gorgeous gowns for all the deserving ladies. Though many graced the red carpet in stunning gowns, i picked my 3 favorites for the night.
Anne Hathaway jumps on the backless bandwagon to make my best dressed list. This stunning copper-meets-blush, sequin-studded Armani PrivĂ© gown is modern and demure with long sleeves and a high neck. It's when she turns around that you get that movie star moment. What seemed dated from the front now looks fresh and modern. Soft makeup, flattering chestnut waves, complementary peep-toe Brian Atwood platforms finish off her crystallized sheath along with Van Cleef & Arpels vintage jewels, and Roger Vivier clutch.
Newly blonde Emma Stone plays up her lighter locks and worked the heck out of this peachy minimalist dress from the Calvin Klein Collection. The short sleeves and high neckline are perfect on her. Who needs an overload of accessories and embellishment when you've got this kind of natural glow? She paired the dress with a sleek clutch, Van Cleef & Arpels jewels as well as Anne and Ferragamo peep-toes.
We get it, Angelina Jolie -- you have it all. She's beautiful, talented and fashionable! Angelina looks right at home in a glam sparkly Atelier Versace gown. It was an unusual move for Angelina, who tends to play it safe in neutral shades but the choice certainly paid off. The floor-length, long-sleeved number gets some added wow with draped backless detail. And Brad Pitt doesn't hurt the look either. Nice job ladies, 10/10!

Personally...

So this has nothing to do with fashion but i took this really in depth personality test this morning and i thought it was really cool. I think the results were really acurate and it told me a lot about myself that i already knew, but never really noticed. Click this to take it the test ---> http://www.personaldna.com/

Natalie Portman vs Taylor Swift

I picked up the new issue of Vogue while i was at shop rite today (I know i'm so late... I just haven't had time to get it). Anyways, you know that scene in  The Devil Wears Prada when the editor-in-chief says that fashion magazines are pretty much the most influential thing on Earth? Maybe she wasn’t lying. The cover girl Natalie Portman graces the front page in a beautiful peach dress. I instantly fell in love.. or maybe i fell back in love. Turns out the J. Mendel dress she was wearing, was the exact one Taylor Swift wore to the Peoples Choice Awards last week that i loved so much as well! Taylor paired it with a chic chignon, strappy Prada  pumps and bold red lips while Natalie wore it with huge diamond earrings and blossom pink lips. Who wore it best? And more importantly, when do I get to wear it?

Americas Next Top Models?

They must be around 7, and already super fierce. Though i don't completely understand the idea of this French Vogue spread, i think it's cute.

My New Fashion Favorite

Taylor Tomasi is not known by many. She's the style and accesories director at Marie Claire magazine, and damn, she has serious style. She has a great ability to layer, mix and match patterns and colors, and for the few who do know her, she is renowned, admired, and copied!  Taylor is known for her bright red hair and latest fashions. Taylor always has the latest and greatest accessories, and she definitely knows how to wear them!

Peoples Choice 2011

We got the first taste of award season style last night as celebs walked the blue carpet for the 2011 People's Choice Awards in L.A. From sequins to tiers, bright colors to neutrals, a variety of outfits were on display. Even though there were a couple fashion mishaps, there were a handful of beautifully dressed celebs on the other hand. From Natalie Portman in Jason Wu, to Ashley Tisdale in Farah Angsana. But my absolute favorites of the night were Kristen Stewart, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift. Kristen went all-out glam in a gold, sequined and belted mini dress by Reem Acra. The short dress showed her figure off and her simple hair and make-up were the perfect complement to all those sequins. Kristen completed her look with a pair of Jimmy Choo peep-toes. Selena rocked 2 dresss that night, but my favorite was the Paule Ka ruffled pink thigh high asymmetrical dress. The color totally complimented her tan and she just looked gorgeous. And lastly Taylor. She went for sweet and feminine look in her blush-colored J. Mendel dress. As usual, her go-to hairstyle--the wavy up-do--accompanied her attire perfectly. She finished off the look with Neil Lane jewelry and Prada shoes.Well done ladies!

Plain and Simple

I love Alexander Wang.

Trendy Tuesday

Open your closet door. Do the contents remind you of a trip to the zoo? With leopard print, faux-fur and leather garments, fashionistas have a lot to thank the animal kingdom for.
The latest trend in animal-inspired fashion is the feathered skirt.  Blake Lively, Lea Michelle, Solange Knowles and more celebrities have flocked to the elaborate look of a full, feathered skirt. Not only is it extremely flattering, the feathered skirt redefines red carpet fashion. Forget the boring empire waist gown, the feathered skirt is a fun way for fashionistas to declare that they've arrived … in serious style.
Blake Lively (bottom right), star of Gossip Girl is no stranger to showing up in style. Shes been on every best dressed list ever since i can remember. She arrived and turned heads at the premiere of Where the Wild Things Are in a stunning short corseted  Marchesa dress with a full black feathered skirt.

Actress, Lea Michele (top left) has a lot to smile about. In the past year, she's gone from not so famous Broadway star, to a household name and is adored by many real-life “gleeks”. The actress and singer made plenty of best dressed lists after she wore a one-shouldered navy Romona Keveza dress with skirt covered in feathers to last year's Grammy awards, and ever since, shes been rocking the red carpet in fabulous fashions.

Must Have Monday

If you would have asked me 6 months ago if i thought leopard print was nice i would have rolled my eyes and exclaimed about how trashy it was. Well, that was 6 months ago and in the past couple of weeks especially, i have fallen back in love with it. It burst back out onto the runways again this season from Oscar de la Renta and  Rebecca Taylor and i couldn't be happier. Animal prints, especially leopard, tread a fine line between chic and trashy but if you wear them in small amounts, you will be able to pull it off, without looking like a hooker. You could pair Jeffrey Campbell leopard wedges (which i love oh so much) and a military styled coat and black tights for a simple outfit to let the wild wedges be the focus of the outfit, or try an over sized faux fur leopard coat, a simple pinstripe shirt, black skinnies and military boots. Wear it any way you want, just remember, don't over kill. In moderation, any trendy indulgence can be worn.

New Years Style Resolutions for 2011

Now that 2010 is finally over, it's time to turn over a new fashion leaf. Resolve yourself and make some style adjustments for a better and more fashionable year ahead. Good luck and let’s make this year a great one! Here's some tips, to become more chic!

1. Stop overspending: I know all you girls (and guys) look amazing in all the newest designer fashions, but you always end  up with an empty wallet for some time. Supporting your favorite designers is great, and i'm all for stimulating the economy, but know should your limit. There’s no reason you can’t keep your fashion needs on a budget. People may roll their eyes at the fact you bought a garment from Target, but keep it on a don't ask don't tell level. Also you can check up on when sample sales come around, usually at the beginning of a season.

2.  Subscribe to international fashion magazines: The American point of view is great, but is only one of many. Our favorite fashion icons are cultured, no matter where they’re from. Step outside of U.S. publications for a minute and find your fashion inspiration somewhere besides US Vogue. Hit up a newsstand online or in a major city, and get inspired by what’s going on in Europe, Asia, South America, anywhere!

3. Go back to basics: Invest in more classics, fewer trends. I'm not saying you should ignore major trends because fashionistas live for the latest trend. We are just saying that when you are investing a lot of money into  a single item, make it a classic. A Burberry trench coat will last you ages, but those neon African-print  pants? Not so much.

4. Mix more prints: Everyone is talking about it, but not everyone is doing it. This style isn’t going anywhere soon so jump in and be daring! It’ll give your wardrobe some much-needed change, especially if you can’t afford an entirely new wardrobe for the new year. If you’re unsure of how to successfully pull off print mixing, there are probably some youtube tutorials, or maybe i will make a list of tips later.

Buy Now, Wear Forever!

Sometimes it's better to invest in pieces that will last you forever, instead of just 1 season. Clothes that remain in style, and can be worn for a decade, is worth saving up your bucks for. Yes, you may have to give up Starbucks for a year, but some pieces are truly worth it! Below are some good pieces to invest in!

1. Classic Chanel Purse
This classic has been worn on the shoulders of many celebrity's, It-girls and designers, and never ever goes out of style. The purse can be put onto any outfit. It can be worn with jeans and a t-shirt, an evening gown, summery dress, or tights and stockings in winter, it always dresses up an outfit and provides a certain je ne sais quoi. It can be styled with a long chain, short chain, used as a clutch, and makes the perfect passport and wallet bag when traveling. And you wouldn't want to leave this one in your suitcase!

2. Trench Coat
Audrey Hepburn wore several trench coats in Breakfast At Tiffany's, and Burberry made them essential for every woman's closet. They're not just for detectives anymore. The trench coat can look incredibly chic with a pair of heels. It can be worn as a dress or even over one, and you can throw it over jeans, and pair it with flats. Anyone can wear a trench coat, and it will keep you dry in the rain!

3. Sunglasses
A great pair of sunglasses is one of the best investments. Buy a quality pair that really suits your face shape, take care of them, and they will last you a very long time. I personally love ray bans but you can go for a round pair like Paris Hilton, or aviators like Tom Cruise in Top Gun. The choice is all yours!

 4. The Blazer
A simple blazer will go with almost everything in your closet. Wear one with shorts such as Anne Hathaway (above), over a cocktail dress, or dress it down for school with just a basic t-shirt and jeans. The key to investing in a blazer is finding one that fits you perfectly. Make sure your blazer is tailored at the waist and arms, and that it sits perfectly at hip level. A black blazer is very chic, and looks good with every color. Navy is a great color as well. This is one piece that's worth spending extra money on!
